This week is a perfect time to capture a vision for 2015? Once you have a vision, you will have energy, passion and direction for the year ahead. Share your vision with me on the One Degree Shift Facebook Page.

As this year winds down, I usually take some time to quietly reflect on all that has happened, and then go inside to create a vision for the upcoming year. If you don’t already have a similar practice, I encourage you to do the same. There is a popular quote by Helen Keller that can inspire both of us, “The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” While the eyes create sight, it is the heart that creates vision. Your heart is the source of infinite imagination and creativity, helping you to capture and fulfill your life’s purpose. Making a difference can not be separated from vision.

Vision is seeing the future before it becomes reality. I read a story about a farming community who had been experiencing a drought that was affecting their wheat and corn crops. The minister of the small town called the congregation together to pray for rain. As the people settled into their seats, they were surprised to see that out of the entire community, there was only one young girl who came to that prayer meeting carrying an umbrella. This young girl is a true visionary. She saw farther than what is, and saw what can be. No matter where you are in life, or how old or young you are, you can expand your vision and see not just what is, but also the reality you want to create. Grab your umbrella!

THINK ABOUT IT

  1. What is your vision, your heart’s desire, your dream? Write it in as much detail as you can.
  2. How can you make your vision a reality? Think about where you want to be one year from now, and then develop a plan to move toward your vision.
  3. Where do you need help? Who can help you move toward your vision? Who can you learn from? When you begin to act on your vision, you will encounter those who want to help and those who will discourage you. Stay connected to positive influences in your life.
