How to Position Yourself for Your Next Big Blessing – Part 1

Are you correctly positioned for a blessing in your life? That’s not for me to answer for you, but if you’re still standing in the same spot you were yesterday doing what you’ve always done, chances are you’re not in position for something new. Why? Because you have to do something different to get what you’ve never had. The good news is, over the next few weeks, I am going to tell you four ways to put yourself in the correct posture to receive what you want in life and to live your purpose. Are you ready to shift into a new position? Let’s go!

#1 Be Open to the Answer Coming in a Different Way

I was sitting in my car this week recuperating after an intense workout with my new personal trainer and this inspired thought came to my mind: “A prophet is not welcome in his own town.” It’s a quote from the Bible. Now I was a Sunday School teacher for many years, so it’s not unusual for random passages to stand out and give me answers to a situation in my life. In my life purpose workshop I refer to this kind of insight as downloads from a “trusted source” to steer you along your path. This trusted source knows everything about who you are and wants you to learn, grow, and be successful. Whom or what do you trust to guide you to live your life purposefully? Begin to open up to that divine guidance to get clear about the next step that will position you for your big blessing.

As I continued to ponder the quote, I knew it wasn’t just a passage from the Bible, but a direct answer from my trusted source to a question I hadn’t even asked yet. Here’s how I know this was a real connection and not something I made up.

  1. I know the voice. It is declarative, confident, and not something I would say to myself.
  2. It surprised me. At other times, source may say things I don’t want to hear or don’t want to be true.
  3. I felt at ease and peaceful. And, sometimes it can be a revelation that causes me to burst into tears. I’ve witnessed in my private coaching programs that when we experience this kind of spiritual connection our responses can be as different as we are.

Back to my story now. I’ve been working out with my personal trainer, for a couple of months. On this day, we walked a warm-up mile, which gave us more time to talk. My trainer shared his dreams for his business and the goal he had set for himself to move closer to realizing it. As I like to do, I put on my coaching hat and began to ask questions, offer ideas, and cheer him on. If you know me, you know I love encouraging others to go after their dreams and offering them anything I can to make their journey a little easier. Well on this day, most of my ideas seemed to miss the mark. With each suggestion, my trainer told me all the reasons it would not work. He even acknowledged that others had given him many of the ideas before. Yet, it was clear that he desired better results in his business. But… is he correctly positioned to receive them? It’s his call, yes or no.

What is the thing you dream of doing? What goals are you working towards? What do you long for most of all? Your answer could be your next big blessing, but you need to be in a receptive posture to get instructions on how to move forward.

Try this: Ask a question, then relax and patiently wait for an insight, an instruction, a vision, a word, a message, a dream, a feeling, or a deep knowing to come to you. Be open to however this answer may come. You might be surprised at what you hear.

What’s your practice to connect with the wisdom within you? Has guidance ever showed up in a unique way? Share with me below.

Let these words from my personal trainer encourage you today. Thanks Mike of PWL Training & Nutrition for inspiring this week’s post.

“Never quit if you stumble. What happened yesterday no longer matters. Today’s another day so get back on track and move closer to your dreams and goals. You can do it!”

Next week’s article will discuss two more ways to position yourself to accomplish the things you desire. So, make sure you visit our One Degree Shift community blog real soon.

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind. that ye may prove what is the that good, and perfect, will of God. As a trainer I love building rapport with my clients and with that being said I want to inspire people. I want someone to look at me and say BECAUSE of you I didn’t give up. Thanks for choosing PWL NUTRITION & Fitness to help you meet your goals.

Thank you for sharing Cassandra. Although I’m known for planning just about everything in life (if I can help it), I believe our biggest blessings come when we’re least expecting them.

Hey Johnnene, you’re right and… there is nothing wrong with being a planner. Planning makes us more efficient. It’s a good thing until we start believing it can help us control everything that happens in life. Another way to shift into position for your blessing is to learn to be comfortable with uncertainty. I’ll talk more about that in next week’s post.

I get a lot in dreams and that beta state in between consciousness and dreaming. The other morning I woke up with a Paul McCartney song, “Someone’s knocking at the door, someone’s ringin’ the bell (repeat), do me a favor, open the door, and let ‘em in.” I knew that was a definite message encouraging me to be open to receive guidance in a fun and clever way! Thanks for this post and I look forward to the next one!

Allison, I am often guided by song lyrics too. You’ll see in the next post how a popular Beyoncé song led to more insights on how to correctly position yourself for a blessing. I think Source uses whatever is inside of us to send us messages to lead us on our purpose path. Thanks for your comment!
