Are you positioned for success? In this three-part series, I’ve shared four ways to truly know the answer to this question. The first step is to patiently wait for insight or instructions to come to you on how to move forward and to be open to wisdom coming in a different way. And, last week’s post gave two more ways to position yourself to accomplish the things you desire: Leave the place where you are most at home and surround yourself with people who will challenge you to go a level above the place you are now. Finally, here’s the fourth strategy.

#4 Get Out of Your Head and Into Action

As soon as the Beyoncé song faded out of my head, the radio edited song by my favorite rapper, Ludacris, faded in. “Move [glass breaking], get out the way, get out the way [shushing noise], get out the way.” Right away, I perceived its meaning. We block our own blessings! The only thing standing in our way is the story we keep telling ourselves about why we can’t have what it is we truly want.

What story? The story that you can’t do it, or that you don’t deserve it, or it’s too hard, it’s too late, it won’t work, I might fail, or who am I to dream such a big dream anyway. These excuses can stop you from taking even a small step towards what you want.

You will have to challenge your mind if you want to be correctly positioned to receive your next big blessing. What would happen if you swapped your story for a more empowering one?  What if you said “I can” instead of “I can’t?” Or better yet, what if you told yourself, “I will?”  Would your life change? Would you change? If you want to change something in your life, you must change the story you tell yourself.

Every time I begin a new private coaching relationship, my client and I create a coaching plan to get crystal clear on her objectives, potential challenges, and her vision of fulfillment. We often refer back to this plan as our coaching continues to judge our progress. It never fails when we do, the client is amazed at how her vision is manifesting. That’s because our words have creative power.

Just as my clients speak and create the vision they have for their lives, the thoughts you carry in your head will either put you in the right position for greater things or discourage you and keep you stuck in the same place. The truth is that you have the power to change your story to one that creates momentum to move forward. What will your new story be? Share it now with personal coach, Cassandra Washington.

If you follow these four steps, you will inevitably position yourself to discover your purpose in life and business.

  1. Be Open to the Answer Coming in a Different Way
  2. Embrace and Get Comfortable with Uncertainty
  3. Get Ready to Evolve into the Best Version of You
  4. Get Out of Your Head and Into Action
